The Women Fight Back

The novel's most interesting character may be Mina Harker, who combines Victorian propriety with modern competence. She transcribes documents, coordinates the vampire hunters' research, and maintains strategic clarity when the men around her panic.

When Dracula forces Mina to drink his blood, establishing a psychic link, the hunters initially want to exclude her. But the link becomes their greatest tactical advantage — Mina can sense Dracula's movements. Stoker inadvertently created a prototype for the competent heroine who saves the mission through intelligence rather than physical strength, though he could never fully free her from Victorian gender constraints.
