Mindful Communication
One of mindfulness's most practical uses is in conversation. Most people listen while planning what they will say next, so they miss much of what the other person actually means. Mindful listening means taking in the speaker's words without rushing to form a reply.
It is harder than it sounds. The urge to respond, correct, or share your own story is powerful. Sitting with someone's words without reacting takes the same discipline as sitting with your breath. When both people listen this way, conflicts de-escalate — because neither one feels unheard.
