LESSON 6 · The Quest for Meaning

Frankl's Enduring Message

Man's Search for Meaning has been translated into more than 50 languages, and the Library of Congress named it one of the ten most influential books in America. Its power lies in its simplicity: meaning is always available, even in the darkest circumstances.

Frankl lived until 1997, practicing psychiatry and lecturing worldwide. He learned to fly and earned a pilot's license in his sixties, climbed mountains into his seventies, and never stopped treating patients. He embodied his own philosophy — a life organized around purpose rather than pleasure or comfort. His message was hope grounded in realism: you cannot always choose your circumstances, but you can always choose your response.
