He rarely left the region around Konigsberg his whole life
Despite writing about the nature of the entire universe, Kant spent his life in and around Konigsberg, Prussia, and almost never traveled far. Konigsberg was itself a busy Baltic seaport, and Kant did reach the coast: he records a queasy boat trip in his own writings, so the popular notion that he never saw the sea is a myth.
