LESSON 4 · What Makes Us Happy?

What Remains After Release

Letting go is often framed as loss, but the experience is closer to clearing space. When you release a grudge, a resentment, or an outdated identity, you do not become empty. You become available for whatever comes next.

This is the quiet payoff most people miss: the grip itself was doing the harm, not the thing you were gripping. Each attachment you set down frees up attention, energy, and time that the holding had quietly consumed. The paradox of letting go is that you gain more than you lose — but you cannot feel it until you actually open your hand.
