The Theorem

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type any given text, including the complete works of Shakespeare. This is not a joke or a metaphor. It is a mathematical certainty.

The probability of typing any specific sequence is astronomically small but not zero. In infinite time, every event with a non-zero probability occurs. Not just once — infinitely many times. Infinity is stranger than you think.
