LESSON 2 · Philosophy of Love
Love as Action
Philosophers from multiple traditions define love not as a feeling but as a pattern of committed action. The Stoics taught that love is a choice made daily. Kierkegaard argued that genuine love is a duty you owe to every person, not a reaction triggered by attractive qualities.

When love is a verb rather than a noun, it becomes more durable and more honest. You do not love someone because they make you feel a certain way. You love them because you choose to show up — through boredom, conflict, illness, and the long stretches where no sparks fly. The feeling may come and go, but the choice can stay.
