Bong Joon-ho's Architecture

Bong constructs films like buildings, using physical space to express social hierarchy. In Parasite, the Kim family lives below street level while the Parks live above it. Every vertical movement in the film represents class aspiration or descent.

This spatial storytelling makes Parasite's themes inescapable. You cannot watch the family climb stairs without thinking about social mobility. Bong turned architecture into political commentary that needs no subtitles, making the film universally legible.
