Nolan treats dream architecture as real architecture. Each dream is a designed space with its own rules of physics, geometry, and cause and effect. Disturb one level and the shock cascades downward: the van tipping over above makes the hotel below lose gravity.

The rotating hallway fight is more than a stunt. It shows the film's core idea on screen: what happens in one layer of the mind reshapes the layers beneath it.
