AI-generated music creates legal chaos. If an AI trained on millions of songs produces a new track, who owns it? The AI? The developer? The artists whose music trained the system? U.S. Copyright Office guidance requires human authorship for copyright protection, so purely AI-generated music may not be copyrightable there. Other countries are still working through similar questions.

Deepfake songs using cloned celebrity voices have gone viral — an AI-generated "Drake" track accumulated millions of plays before being removed. Artists are divided: some see AI as theft of their style; others, like Grimes, have openly invited AI use of their voice.
