LESSON 1 · Legends of the Stage

More Than a Band

Between 1963 and 1970, The Beatles — John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr — released 13 studio albums, redefining popular music with each one. They started as a boy band singing love songs and ended as experimental artists pushing the boundaries of studio technology, composition, and cultural influence.

Beatlemania was the first global pop culture phenomenon. Their 1964 Ed Sullivan Show appearance drew 73 million viewers — over 40% of the US population at the time. But their cultural impact went far beyond screaming fans.
