LESSON 2 · Legends of the Stage

The Prodigy Who Never Stopped

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) composed over 600 works in his 35 years — symphonies, operas, concertos, chamber music, and choral masterpieces. He wrote in every form his era offered, and excelled in all of them.

What made Mozart extraordinary was not just speed but range. He excelled in every genre of his era. His operas (The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute) are still performed nightly worldwide. His piano concertos set the standard for the form.
