Police made him remove the window nudes
His one solo show opened at the Galerie Berthe Weill in December 1917. Police objected to the nudes displayed in the street-facing window because they showed pubic hair, and demanded that those works be taken out of the window for indecency. Popular legend says the whole show was shut down after a day, but it actually ran its scheduled run that month; only the window display was changed.
