De-Escalation Language

Specific phrases lower the temperature in a hostile exchange. Each one validates the questioner without conceding your point:

  • "I hear your frustration, and it's valid."
  • "Let me make sure I understand your concern."
  • "That's a fair challenge."
  • "We see this differently. Let me share why."

Never match their volume. Speaking more quietly forces the room to listen harder and makes the aggressor sound disproportionate.
