LESSON 4 · Handle Tough Questions

Preparation Prevents Panic

One useful defense against hostile questions is pre-game preparation. Before any high-stakes presentation, list the five most uncomfortable questions someone could ask. Draft each answer as a one-line acknowledgement followed by a pivot back to your prepared message.

After a hostile exchange, consider approaching the questioner privately during a break if it is safe and useful. A short, low-key word away from the audience lets them save face and may reduce future combativeness.
