The Reframe Method

Reframing the question is a sophisticated time-buying move that also improves your answer. "That's really a question about scalability, which has three dimensions..." You buy time by redefining the scope, and you hand yourself a clear structure to follow.

The reframe works because it shows analytical thinking — you are not just answering, you are improving the question. Other reliable starters:

  • "At its core, this is about..."
  • "The real question underneath that is..."
  • "Let me break that into its components..."
