Need Beneath Words
Listening for the need beneath the words is a deeper form of listening. You are not only tracking the sentence; you are asking what the sentence is trying to protect.

You cannot force someone to share what they are hiding. But you can make it safe enough that they choose to. Respond to difficult truths with curiosity instead of reaction. Say thank you for telling me that before offering any opinion.
