The Three-Point Scan

Your first ten seconds in a room decide how well you handle it. Use the three-point scan: energy level, power center, and open spaces.

Energy level tells you whether the room is buzzing, calm, or tense. Match it right away — do not bring high energy into a somber room. The power center is the spot the room is built around: the head of the table, the front of the stage, the seat with the clearest sight lines. Note where it sits and angle yourself toward it. Open spaces are the gaps and edges where approachable people stand, ready for connection.

This quick scan hands you a strategic map before you say a word, so you can decide where to stand and who to reach first.
