The Direct Acknowledgment
Sometimes the fastest repair is a brief, plain acknowledgment: "I came in too strong earlier. Let me reset." You are not begging for approval; you are naming the miss so the other person does not have to keep carrying it.

Avoid over-explaining or making excuses. A brief acknowledgment followed by changed behavior usually works better than a long apology. People update impressions when the next few interactions give them new evidence.
