LESSON 5 · The Future of Work & Money

The Real Problems

Cryptocurrency faces serious practical challenges. Bitcoin mining consumes electricity comparable to entire countries. Transaction speeds are far slower than traditional payment systems, so paying for everyday purchases can mean waiting and paying high fees.

Volatility makes crypto impractical as everyday money. A currency that gains or loses 20% in a week cannot reliably price goods or serve as a stable store of value. Scams, hacks, and exchange collapses have cost investors billions and eroded public trust.
