Top Minimal Pairs
These cause the most real-world confusion:
- ship / sheep — short I vs long EE
- pen / pan — E vs A
- bat / bet — A vs E, tricky for many Asian language speakers
- light / right — L vs R, famously hard for East Asian speakers
- vine / wine — V vs W, common for German and Hindi speakers
You do not need to master every minimal pair in English. Focus on the ones where your native language creates a blind spot, and practice those daily.
