Pressure-relief ducts let the air escape between the rail tunnels
A train racing through a sealed tube acts like a piston, pushing a cushion of air ahead of it. Regularly spaced piston-relief ducts connect the two rail tunnels so that built-up air can bleed across, cutting drag and keeping the ride smooth.
