Your child is deep in a LEGO build. You say "time to go" and the world ends. This is not defiance. It is a neurological reality.

The intensity of a transition meltdown is often proportional to how engaged the child was. A kid who screams when leaving the park was doing something developmentally meaningful. The children who transition worst often have the strongest focus.
