LESSON 5 · Raise Resilient Kids

Structured vs Unstructured Time

Structured activities are not bad. Piano lessons, soccer practice, and homework all matter. The problem is the ratio — when scheduled time crowds out free time entirely.

Aim for at least one hour daily where your child has:

  • No screens
  • No instructions
  • No agenda

This is not neglect. It is one of the most developmentally powerful things you can offer — so watch what happens when you don't step in.
