LESSON 5 · Tantrum Survival Guide

Who to Ask First

Seeking professional support is not a failure. It is an act of attentive parenting. When a pattern worries you, you don't have to figure out the diagnosis yourself — you just have to start the conversation with the right person.

Begin with your pediatrician, who knows your child's history and can screen for common issues. From there, they can refer you on. A child psychologist assesses for anxiety, ADHD, or developmental needs, while an occupational therapist addresses regulation and sensory challenges. Trust your instinct: if something feels off, that hunch is worth a phone call.
