The Simulation Argument
In 2003, Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom published a paper that rattled both physics and philosophy.

Bostrom did not claim we definitely live in a simulation. He argued that one of three statements must be true: civilizations destroy themselves before reaching simulation capability, advanced civilizations choose not to run ancestor simulations, or we almost certainly are simulated.
