Two Coils, No Wires

A wireless charger has a flat copper coil connected to power. When alternating current flows through this coil, it creates a rapidly oscillating magnetic field above the pad.

Your phone has a matching coil inside. When the oscillating magnetic field passes through it, Faraday's law kicks in and generates current in the phone's coil. That current charges the battery. Two coils, one principle, zero wires.
