The Sweet Spot

The sweet spot is the point on the clubface where impact produces zero twisting and maximum energy transfer. Hit it and the ball launches with minimal vibration — you barely feel the contact. Miss it by a centimeter and the clubface rotates, sending the ball offline with reduced speed.

Modern club design uses computer modeling to expand the sweet spot. Titanium driver faces flex at impact, creating a trampoline effect that returns energy to the ball. Thinner faces flex more but risk exceeding the legal restitution limit. Manufacturers push right to the edge of specifications.
