Prompting Like a Pro
The quality of AI output depends almost entirely on the quality of your input. Vague prompts produce vague results. Specific prompts with context, constraints, and examples produce remarkably useful output. Think of prompting as giving a brief to a talented but literal-minded intern.
- Give context: "You are a marketing manager writing to enterprise clients"
- Be specific: "Write a 200-word email" not "Write an email"
- Provide examples: Show the tone, format, or style you want
- Set constraints: "Avoid jargon, use short sentences, include three bullet points"
Investing 30 extra seconds in a detailed prompt saves minutes of editing a poor response.
