LESSON 5 · What Actually Drives You
Crafting Purpose at Work
You don't need to quit your job to find purpose. Job crafting reshapes your role to fit your values and strengths.
Three types:
- Task crafting. Volunteer for projects you care about, minimize draining tasks, and add work that plays to your strengths.
- Relational crafting. Build deeper ties with colleagues you respect, and mentor junior teammates.
- Cognitive crafting. A hospital janitor can see the job as mopping floors — or as keeping a healing space safe. Same work, very different meaning.
People who craft their jobs report higher satisfaction, better performance, and less burnout — with no change in title or salary.
