The halo extends well past physical appearance.

Brand halos. A strong brand reputation can color how people judge new products before they test them. The halo is expectation, not proof of a blind-test win.

Authority halos. "Dr. Smith, Stanford professor" has opinions weighed more heavily - even on topics outside their expertise.

Success halos. Successful people are assumed to be smart, hardworking, and virtuous. But success often involves luck, timing, and privilege.

First-impression halos. A strong first impression becomes a filter through which all later information is read. A rude comment turns into "just having a bad day."
