Therapy Without Stigma
Couples often wait years after problems start before they ask for help, though newer research put the average closer to 2.7 years than the widely repeated six-year claim. By then the same fight may have been rehearsed hundreds of times, and resentment can harden into a habit. The best moment to begin is not when the relationship is failing.

Asking for help is not a confession that you failed. It is a decision to protect something you both still want. People will pour years and money into a house or a career and treat their marriage as the one thing that should just work on its own. It will not.
