LESSON 5 · Modern Marriage Essentials

Make It Actually Work

Therapy only works if both people commit. Showing up is the floor, not the finish line. Real change asks for honesty, effort between sessions, and a willingness to look at your own part.

  • Tell the truth in the room — the therapist can't fix what they never hear about
  • Do the homework — the exercises between sessions are where change actually sticks
  • Stop keeping score — this is not a contest over who was right
  • Carry it home — a breakthrough means nothing if your behavior outside the room doesn't shift.
