LESSON 4 · The Daily Voice Warm-Up

The Interview Voice

Job interviews demand a specific vocal approach. You need to sound confident without being aggressive, enthusiastic without being desperate, and competent without being arrogant. This narrow range takes preparation, because anxiety pushes most people toward their least effective vocal patterns.

Warm up with exercises that establish a calm, lower-register voice. Practice answering common questions at a measured pace with deliberate pauses. Record yourself and listen for uptalk, filler words, and rushing. Aim to sound like a knowledgeable friend sharing expertise, not a candidate performing for approval.
