LESSON 4 · The Emotional Voice

Four Core Skills

Voice acting builds four skills you can use anywhere:

  • Emotional range — reaching joy, grief, anger, or tenderness with your voice on cue
  • Character differentiation — shifting pitch, pace, and placement to create distinct voices
  • Cold reading — performing unfamiliar text with the right feeling on the first try
  • Microphone technique — controlling volume, distance, and breath for recorded speech

Each one pays off offscreen. Range makes a presentation grip people. Differentiation makes you fun to listen to when you quote someone in a story.
