Formal autopilot phrases are the easiest tell that you stopped writing like yourself. "Please do not hesitate to reach out" is something no one says out loud. "Let me know if you have questions" is what people actually say. Reading your draft aloud exposes these instantly:

• If you run out of breath, the sentence is too long
• If you sound robotic, the writing has lost your voice
• If a phrase makes you cringe, cut it

Before sending anything important, read it as if the person were sitting across from you.
