Distinctive and Clear

An accent can make a voice stand out, but standing out only helps when the message remains easy to follow. Treat distinctiveness and intelligibility as partners.

Some influential speakers in history had pronounced accents. Henry Kissinger, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Arianna Huffington show that an accent does not have to block a public persona when the message stays clear and the voice becomes recognizable.
