Choosing Your Response
The last step is the one most people skip: deciding on purpose. Once you have named the feeling and read its signal, you face a real choice — and the choice is yours, not the emotion's.
Ask, "Given this, what action actually serves me right now?" Sometimes the emotion's suggestion is exactly right. Sometimes a completely different response makes more sense — anxiety urges you to cancel the meeting, but showing up anyway is what you actually need. Either way, you decide, and you act because you chose to, not because the feeling told you to.
