Safety Behaviors

Socially anxious people develop safety behaviors — subtle strategies that feel helpful but actually maintain the anxiety long-term.

The trap: safety behaviors prevent learning. Use your phone as a shield all night and the party goes fine, and your brain credits the phone — not you. You never prove you can cope without the crutch.
