Starting the Loop

The hardest part of the competence-confidence loop is the first revolution. You have little skill, no evidence, and maximum self-doubt. Every fiber says wait until you are ready.

But readiness is a myth. Nobody is ready for their first attempt. The first pancake is ugly. The first presentation is nervous. The first conversation in a new language is awkward.

Start with the smallest possible action. Want to become a confident public speaker? Do not book a keynote. Speak up in a team meeting. Say one sentence. Each micro-success teaches your brain that speaking publicly is survivable.
