LESSON 6 · Escape Toxic Patterns
The People-Pleaser's Inner World
From outside, people-pleasers look happy and willing. Inside, the experience is very different.
Constant monitoring. You scan every interaction for signs of displeasure. A neutral face becomes evidence that someone is upset.
Decision paralysis. Even simple choices, like where to eat, become agonizing because you are trying to predict what everyone else wants.
Accumulated resentment. Every unreciprocated favor and every yes that meant no piles up until it suddenly explodes.
Identity confusion. After adapting to others for so long, you may not know who you are. Your opinions shift with the audience.
