LESSON 7 · Escape Toxic Patterns

Paths to Healing

Healing trauma responses often means addressing both mind and body, ideally with trauma-informed professional support when symptoms are intense, persistent, or impairing.

  • Somatic approaches. Some therapies use careful attention to physical sensations to help the body feel safer and more regulated.
  • EMDR. EMDR is an evidence-based trauma therapy for many people, delivered by trained clinicians.
  • Trauma-informed therapy. A trained therapist treats your behaviors as adaptations, not pathology, and moves at your pace.
  • Regulation practices. Humming, breathing, grounding, and cold water may help some people shift arousal, but they are tools, not cures.
  • Movement practices. Yoga, martial arts, and dance can help reconnect you with your body in a safe context when chosen carefully.
