By evening you have made many choices, your thinking may be slower, and your body is moving closer to sleep. This combination can open a window where impulsive choices become more likely.
Late-night slips are not proof that willpower follows a fixed daily curve. They are usually a stack of ordinary factors: tiredness, emotion, lower accountability, and the fact that big choices feel heavier when your day is already full.

Dieters are more likely to break commitments at night. Late-evening shopping leans toward impulse buys. Across many everyday choices, willpower seems to follow a daily curve that bottoms out at night.
