LESSON 1 · Speak Up at Work

Conviction Helps Ideas Land

People do not judge competence from content alone. Delivery shapes reception: a strong idea wrapped in upspeak, filler, and self-apology can read as half-formed, while clear pacing and a steady voice help the same idea sound considered. Substance still matters; delivery gives it a fair chance.

The good news: delivery is trainable. Deliberate practice on posture, pace, and pause can change how people perceive your authority faster than hoping your ideas speak for themselves. The gains stick because you are training behaviors, not memorizing lines.
