The Private Praise

Public praise is powerful. Private praise is underrated — and often more memorable.

A two-minute 1:1 comment — "your retention analysis was the reason we shifted strategy" — lands differently than the same line in a team channel. No audience, no performance, no political angle. The person walks away certain you meant it.

Build both muscles. Public praise teaches the team; private praise cements the relationship.
