LESSON 2 · Defeat Procrastination

Two Minutes Is the Trick

The 2-Minute Rule has two versions, and both are powerful. David Allen's version: if a task takes less than 2 minutes, do it immediately. James Clear's version: when starting a new habit, scale it down to something that takes 2 minutes or less.

The rule does not mean every habit should stay at 2 minutes forever. It means the entry cost should be negligible. "Write one sentence" becomes "write for 30 minutes" naturally — once you are sitting at the desk with a pen in hand, the hard part is already done.
