Visible Attention

Physical presence matters because attention is visible. A phone on the table, eyes on the door, or a body angled away can weaken even sincere listening.

When the phone is visible, the message can feel ambiguous: are you listening, or waiting for something more important? Removing the device makes the attention signal cleaner and reduces the temptation to glance down.
