LESSON 2 · Navigate Any Conflict
Narrow Window
De-escalation lowers emotional temperature before a conversation becomes destructive. The window is narrow: once both parties are flooded with stress hormones, rational talk becomes much harder. Intervene in the gap between tension and explosion.

The most powerful de-escalation tool is your tone of voice. When someone raises their voice, your instinct is to match it. Dropping your voice lower and slower instead creates a psychological pull, and they adjust toward you.
