Word Choice

Word choice under fire matters as much as tone. The wrong phrase can reignite someone in a single line, while the right one signals that you are on their side.

Replace escalating language with de-escalating alternatives: "I can see this matters" instead of "calm down." "Help me understand" instead of "you're wrong." "What would make this feel resolved?" instead of "what now?"
