Where Ideas Die

"That is interesting" is where most ideas go to die. People say it to be polite while mentally filing your idea under "things that will never happen." The gap between interest and action is enormous, and most communicators have no strategy for bridging it.

People support ideas they co-own. Instead of presenting a finished solution, present 80 percent and invite them to complete the rest. "Here is what I am thinking, what would you add?" The moment they contribute, the idea becomes partly theirs.
